Job Objective:
Provide vision and leadership for the planning, management, development, testing documentation delivery and implementation of information technology initiatives required for the smooth performance of the business are in place, functional, maintained and
upgraded when relevant. Ensure the effectiveness and proper functioning of core operating systems such as the insurance software, accounting software, and all relevant software needed i.e., software related to connectivity within the company (and with third parties),
security and integrity of data, as well as standard office packages are fully functional and aligned with business objectives and supports business growth.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Lead IT strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization.
Participate in strategic and operational governance processes as a member of the senior management team.
Prepares annual budgets, in terms of material investments or developments, in relationship with other departments forecasted needs, including IT staffing, hardware and software equipment, miscellaneous IT equipment, licenses fees and any other relevant IT related expense.
Manages the purchase and installation of hardware (computers, network, printers,software), their maintenance and renewal in all the company’s premises (both life and general businesses) including branches or outlets.
Ensures that the core insurance software, the accounting software, and all the related packages required for connectivity, security and office work are in place, functional and that problem solving in relation with any such software is dealt with in an efficient
manner (applies to any new software that may be installed as per company needs) in interaction with service providers.
Ensures the security of computer network (data confidentiality, protection against
outside threats and intrusions) through adapted and updated software packages (antivirus, firewall etc.), and interacts with General Services to ensure the physical protection of the equipment (power supply, protection against fire, flood, robbery etc.)
Administers the users’ profiles and users of the core insurance system and of the accounting software, including all different environments (live, training, test, etc.) in interaction with relevant departments
Designs and maintain the communication infrastructure of the company Write and update IT procedures and ensure the application of procedures; proposes and develop updates in existing policies, or new policies according to needs of the company with constant view to improve capacities of the department to deliver as per needs, and in terms of security of systems
Performs regular and unexpected controls on security matters (existence of back-up, effective storage, authorizations level in the systems, updates of protection software such as antivirus, firewall etc)
Oversee the smooth running of the Data Network comprising the Local Area network (LAN), the Wide Area Network (WAN), the Wireless network and the Internet Supervise the maintenance and Support Voice/Video Communication, i.e., telephone system, video conference facilities
Direct development and execution of an enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plan.
Ensure IT system operation adheres to applicable laws and regulations.
Manages staff performance; setting departmental objectives; linking those objectives to staff performance; monitoring and appraising staff performance.
Qualifications and Competencies Required
A University Degree or its equivalent in IT or Computer science covering data processing and communications, computer information systems, networking, system analysis and computer programming.
A professional qualification in IT, CIS or similar field is preferred
A Master’s programming information technology would be an advantage.
10years’ experience ICT related role with 5 years in senior management role
Experience in strategic planning and execution.
Considerable knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations.
Substantial exposure to data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, and outsourced systems.
Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management.
Excellent understanding of project management principles.
Ability to apply IT in solving business problems.
In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations relating to IT
