Annual General Assembly Meeting and Inauguration of New Board and Management by IIPGH

In a landmark event held on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, the Institute for ICT Professionals Ghana (IIPGH) convened its Annual General Assembly Meeting, heralding a pivotal moment in the history of the Institute. The gathering served as a platform for the leadership of the Institute to celebrate its achievements, reflect on its challenges and make projections for the coming year.

The highlight of the assembly was the formal inauguration of the new Board of Directors and Executive Management with the appointment of the President of Academic City University, Prof. Fred McBagonluri as the Board Chair. The others include Prof. Robert Ebo Hinson, Pro Vice Chancellor, Ghana Communications Technology University, Mr. C.K. Bruce, CEO of Innovare, Grace Anim-Yeboah of Absa Bank Ghana, Nana Adjoa Adobea Asante from the National Communications Authority, Muniratu Musah of MTN Ghana, Amma Benneh-Amponsah of Newmont, Abraham Kuuku Sam of GIZ African Union Office, Francis Gatsi, Lecturer – Ashesi University, David Gowu the Executive Director of the Institute, and Kafui Amanfu, Director of Operations at the Institute.

In his welcome remarks, the Executive Director of IIPGH, Mr. David Gowu paid glowing tribute to the outgoing board and management for their dedicated service and outstanding contributions to the growth of the Institute. He noted that ‘under their leadership, IIPGH developed all the flagship programs, initiatives, and membership drive resulting in the mobilization of over 2,500 professionals as members of the Institute. Their hard work has therefore laid a strong foundation upon which we now stand, and we are indeed indebted to them for their commitment to the growth of IIPGH’.

Reflecting on the 2023 activities, Mr Gowu stressed that ‘IIPGH further amplified its activities from Tech Job Fair, Tech Entrepreneurs Forum, Industry-Academia Tech Dialogue to The Coding Caravan for over 1800 students, Coding for 1,000 girls, and Cybersecurity for professionals.

The Board Chair, Prof. Fred McBagonluri expressed his profound gratitude to the past administration for their unwavering commitment and exceptional service to the Institute and charged the new leadership to build on the excellent legacy of their predecessors. He was optimistic that the new Board and Management would navigate the Institute through the dynamic landscape of Information and Communication Technology with wisdom and innovation.

The Annual General Assembly also provided a platform to recognize outstanding achievements and contributions of Prof. Fred McBagonluri, Ing. Dr. Ken Ashigbey, Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, and Mr. Kwame Larnyo, CEO of AdminTelecom, Lifetime Patron of the Institute.

Participants had the opportunity to network with industry peers, fostering collaboration and the exchange of ideas. The assembly served as a hub for forging partnerships that will contribute to the growth and resilience of the global ICT community as part of the grand agenda of IIPGH.

The Institute is a connector of ICT professionals from government MDAs, educational institutions, corporate organizations, start-ups, investors, and the civil society organizations to create a vibrant ICT ecosystem.
