The Institute of ICT Professionals Ghana (IIPGH) is proud to announce its selection for the 2024-2026 Cohort of the Scratch Education Collaborative (SEC) by the Scratch Foundation. This prestigious recognition marks a significant milestone for IIPGH, as IIPGH joins a distinguished group of 55 organizations from 23 countries, chosen from over 350 applicants worldwide.
The Coding Caravan 2024 in Osudoku District embraced the theme “Breaking Barriers: Coding, Leadership, and Inclusion for All”. The event aimed to spark a passion for ICT among 200 students and 29 teachers by introducing them to the fundamentals of coding and hands-on technology projects. Interactive sessions were designed to be educational and engaging, ensuring a memorable experience for everyone involved. The impact of the Coding Caravan 2024 was evident in the enthusiasm and active participation of students. Students expressed excitement about the interactive lessons and the new skills they acquired. Teachers appreciated the interactivity and the opportunity to enhance their ICT knowledge.
The theme for this year’s event, “Breaking Barriers: Coding, Leadership, and Inclusion for All,” highlighted the commitment of both organizations to ensure that no child is left behind in the quest to equip young minds with competitive digital skills.

Scratch is a visual programming language and online community platform developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The primary idea behind developing Scratch was to create an accessible and interactive environment that would enable individuals, especially children and beginners, to learn the basics of computer programming in a fun and engaging way.
Educators must integrate digital skills into their curriculum, ensuring that students not only use technology but understand its nuances. Governments must enact policies that prioritize digital literacy education, embedding it within the core of their educational framework. Private entities, driven by the knowledge that a digitally skilled population is a boon for innovation and progress, should invest in initiatives that expand digital access.
